The Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) is a subsidiary company of the Alberta New Home Warranty Program Group of Companies. Since 1987, PHBI has kept pace with the industry’s ever-changing needs by designing and delivering practical education and training to those in the new homebuilding industry across Canada. All PHBI’s courses are developed and delivered by seasoned instructors who are recognized as subject matter experts in their respective disciplines, meeting or exceeding Canadian Home Builders Association’s (CHBA) education benchmarks.
In British Columbia, PHBI is branded as BC Builder Training, while Ontarians recognize PHBI as Training Ontario.

PHBI’s BC Housing-Approved core competency courses will train you to become proficient in seven areas required to become a licensed homebuilder in British Columbia — Relevant Enactments, Construction Management and Supervision, Construction Technology, Customer Services and Home Warranty Insurance, Financial Planning and Budget Management, Legal Issues, and Business Planning, Management and Administration.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training
Careers in British Columbia’s ever-changing residential construction industry require a continuous learning journey. Keep your license in good standing through our BC Housing-Approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) formal and informal training.
During your one-year licence term, you must complete a minimum of 20 CPD points related to the residential construction industry. Points can be earned through training, from research and education development, or a combination of both. You can earn two CPD points per hour of formal training and one CPD point per hour of informal training.
PHBI offers a wide variety of online and virtual classroom CPD courses, all BC-Housing approved.
