The Canadian Home Warranty Program (CHWPP) and the New Home Warranty Insurance Canada Corporation (NHWICC) are actively monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, and we’re assessing our activities, policies, and operations in response.<\/p>\n

We’re following the guidance of health experts , the Government of Canada and the World Health Organization. Our responses are guided by the best information available as well as our commitment to protecting individual and public health. We want to ensure our employees and customers stay safe and are doing our part to minimize risk.<\/p>\n

Changes to In-Home Assessments and Inspections<\/h4>\n

In light of ongoing developments resulting from COVID-19, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the New Home Warranty Insurance Canada Corporation (NHWICC) is limiting in-home inspections to only those valid claims involving urgent health and safety matters (those matters primarily involving urgent water leaks, moisture, structural effects, and calls for no heat) and will work through those claims on a priority basis. All other in-home inspections will be rescheduled.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re constantly monitoring the situation and will resume inspections as soon as we are able, consistent with public health guidance. Our claims assessment team will take every precaution necessary as they make urgent in-person home assessments and will work with homeowners to postpone assessments on a case-by-case basis to mitigate personal and public risk as warranted.<\/p>\n

Our physical office spaces are currently closed as our team continues to support our customers remotely. Due to this, we’re unable to accept personal service or registered mail of any legal documents, however, we’ll accept service through email at contactcentre@nhwicc.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Events and activities<\/h4>\n

All scheduled stakeholder and PHBI events and activities will be assessed for risk, and decisions will be made shortly as to whether these events will proceed on a case-by-case basis and updates will be provided.<\/p>\n

According to health experts, the risk of contracting COVID-19 is still relatively low, but it’s important to remain vigilant and do everything possible to help flatten the curve.\u00a0<\/p>\n
